A Kentucky day-care worker recently admitted to taping a child to a mat in order to get them to calm down. The woman has been charged with first-degree criminal abuse. In a situation like this, the woman will be in need of a strong criminal defense.
The incident allegedly took place at the end of October at the Mustard Seeds Child Care. Police say the parent of the child told police about the incident on Jan. 25. The 20-year-old day-care worker was arrested later that night, but was released the next day from the Kenton County jail.
The 20-year-old woman was hired in August, and had previously passed all state background checks. She was fired from her job on the same day that she was released from jail.
According to reports, the woman and another employee were involved in the incident. Authorities say additional people may be charged as they continue to investigate. Police believe they have the full story, but they may discover that the 20-year-old woman was not solely responsible for the incident.
Although the woman apparently confessed to taping the child to the mat, it will be important to determine if police acted appropriately or not. The woman in this case, and anyone in Kentucky who is facing serious criminal charges, would likely benefit from working with an experienced criminal defense attorney.
